A back roads bicycle and golf tour from Caribou, ME to Key West, FL.
Join in for a ride, a round of golf, or just follow along as man, bike and golf clubs roll slowly south.
The “city “ leg through Medford and the Tufts campus, Cambridge and the MIT campus, crossing the Mass Av Bridge into Boston with iconic Citgo sign hovering over Fenway Park and then through the heart of downtown Boston was totally different than the back roads of Maine but every bit as enjoyable.read more
Hitched a ride from home ( Duxbury, Ma) up to Portsmouth with a friend for a quick two day ride completing the Caribou to Duxbury leg. The morning ride hugged the coast through Rye and Hampton NH before crossing into Mass and stopping for an early lunch in Newburyport. Coastal rides are always nice…guaranteed to be flat and with the added benefit today of a steady tail wind it felt downhill the whole way .read more

The weather has been almost too good to believe. These words come back to haunt but it has to be said that it does not get any better than an August spin through the back roads of Maine. Todays route followed the coast from Brunswick down through Freeport ( The home of LL Bean) and into Portland. A couple of flat tires this morning did nothing to diminish the spirits on this glorious day.read more
Another beautiful morning rolling out of Augusta. Made a quick coffee stop in Hallowell, the Drinking Town with an Antiques Problem, and quickly found the rail trail the state highway workers has described last night. Pulled out of the Copper Heron early after a great night’s sleep and splendid B and B breakfast. There is something about farm fresh eggs and homemade blueberry muffins that gets my motoring going.read more
Things got off to a rough start. Drove up Portsmouth NH to catch a bus to Bangor . Taking the bike off truck discovered a flat tire and then ran into an incredibly rude Greyhound driver who was totally bent out of shape that he would have to make room in his storage compartment for the bike. WE got that squared away and got situated in the back of the bus and tended to the flat.read more
Another chamber of commerce day. We stuck the golf bag in Rick’s car. He headed off to do some fishing and I pushed south along Penobscot River to meet later in the day at the club. What a treat….40 pounds lighter without all the gear and a beautiful flat winding route along the river bank.read more
