We pulled into Ferry Terminal just as the gates were closing and hopped on the Henlopen for the 1 hour cruise across Long Island sound over to Orient Point on the NY side at the tip of Long Island.The Henlopen was built as a WW2 landing craft and participated in the D Day landing at Normandy in 1944.It was later converted to a passenger ferry working the Cape May NJ to Lewes, Delaware route. Henlopen was bought by the Cross Sound Group and completely refurbished in 1998
