Hitched a ride from home ( Duxbury, Ma) up to Portsmouth with a friend for a quick two day ride completing the Caribou to Duxbury leg.

The morning ride hugged the coast through Rye and Hampton NH before crossing into Mass and stopping for an early lunch in Newburyport. Coastal rides are always nice…guaranteed to be flat and with the added benefit today of a steady tail wind it felt downhill the whole way .

Approaching Reading, google maps directed the route through the Harold Parker State Forest where dad and I had some memorable pheasant hunts back in the day. Coming into Reading brought back so many fond memories of town my family called home for 3 generations as the route passed my mother’s childhood home, Reading High School and finally finishing up at Meadow Brook Golf club where good friend and old caddy pal Tom Hayes was waiting for a quick nine at the course where we both caddied and learned the game of golf. The round was cut short by rain but we found shelter in the 19th hole and caught up with some members that filled us in all the changes at Meadow Brook over the years.Wonderful nostalgic day and so nice to share it with a dear friend.
